How does hospital medicine enhance my care?

They coordinate complex medical services that may involve many specialists while patient is at the hospital. They order all of your tests and consultations, and clearly explain your treatment plan to you and your family in a language that you can understand. Hospitalists work closely with each patient’s primary care physician to ensure your complete medical history is taken into consideration. They work closely with your surgeon to help manage your medical issues while you in the hospital after surgery. They can also provide an outpatient pre-operative consultation if you do not have a primary care physciian that is able to do this in the timeframe needed by the surgeon.

Hospitalists’ primary function is to make sure your hospital stay is smooth and efficient. They can also help ensure that your care is  seamless once you are ready to be discharged, whether you are going home, to a local nursing homes or rehab center.
