Pediatric services at PMA offices offer parents peace of mind

Parents in the South Bay and Los Angeles have an important medical resource for keeping their children healthy. Pediatric services within Providence Medical Associates (PMA) are offered in four different sites: San Pedro, Wateridge, Redondo Beach and Madrona offices.

Providence Torrance Urgent Care supports the latter three offices by accepting children who are sick – freeing those offices to focus on well child care and other behavioral or medical conditions. On weekdays, sick kids are seen by one of the pediatricians at the Torrance urgent care. The San Pedro office has a separate section of the office and separate waiting area for sick child visits. Keeping the two child populations separate is an important safety protocol during the pandemic.

“We provide the full spectrum of pediatric care to kids from birth to age 18,” states Genesa Wagoner, M.D., department chair. “There are three pediatricians seeing kids and adolescents at each site. Our pediatric nurse practitioners help in the offices seeing patients, doing telehealth visits and helping with phone calls. All of our providers are now able to do telehealth visits with families, which is a nice option for some health concerns.”

In addition to general pediatrics, two PMA pediatricians also have a special interest in behavioral pediatrics (Dr. Wagoner and Dr. Andersen). Dr. Wagoner also completed a fellowship in integrative medicine.

“We pride ourselves on seeing children as individuals, and really listening to them as well as their parents, in order to provide the best care,” Dr. Wagoner notes. “Our pediatricians truly value the special and lasting relationships they develop with their patients and families.”
