Vanessa Schmidt, MD
Endocrinology
Dr. Vanessa Arguello Schmidt is a board-certified endocrinologist practicing in Playa Vista. She holds certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, as well as from the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Her clinical interest includes diabetes, weight management, osteoporosis, and general endocrinology disorders. Dr. Schmidt has conducted clinical research focused on diabetes and bone health.
Originally from Illinois, Dr. Schmidt earned her medical degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago, followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine, where she served as chief endocrine fellow.
She previously spent nine years as an Associate Clinical Professor at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. Today, she serves the Playa Vista community as part of Doctors of Saint John’s, where she is passionate about helping patients achieve their optimal health goals.
Dr. Schmidt believes in a collaborative approach to care, emphasizing patient education and disease prevention across all stages of life. Outside of her practice, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons. She is also fluent in Spanish.
