About Trevan Fischer, MD, F.A.C.S.
Certified by the American Board of Surgery in Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology, Trevan D. Fischer, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgical Oncology at Saint John’s Cancer Institute at Providence Saint John’s Health Center. He is the Assistant Program Director of the Complex Surgical Oncology Fellowship program at JWCI.
He came to the Saint John’s Cancer Institute as a Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellow in 2015 and transitioned to faculty after graduation. He joined the Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment at St. Joseph Hospital in 2019 and is a member of the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program.
Dr. Fischer did his undergraduate work and earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He then completed his internship and general surgery residency at the University of Florida, Department of Surgery in Gainesville, followed by a Saint John’s Cancer Institute fellowship in Santa Monica.
The multidisciplinary team approach to caring for cancer patients drew Dr. Fischer to surgical oncology. He believes that this team approach has led to many improvements in cancer patients’ quality of care.
Dr. Fischer’s clinical interests are melanoma and cutaneous oncology, breast oncology, and soft tissue sarcomas. He strongly believes in advancing the science of innovative and minimally invasive surgery, and his research focus has mirrored his clinical interests.
Dr. Fischer has experience performing research in large national databases, which has led to several publications in the National Library of Medicine and many oral presentations on rare soft tissue tumors and neuroendocrine tumors. He also has a research interest in the quality of life of cancer patients and their caregivers.

I'm currently dealing w/a melanoma that was removed from my nose and Dr. Fischer will remove a lymph node at the same time the Plastic Surgeon goes to repair my face after the skin-flap surgery.. Because of their conflicting schedules, I'm still waiting to hear when this will happen.. Dr. Fischer seems like a very caring individual and I'm hoping the necessary procedures can take place soon.
