About Nora Vasquez, MD
Although born in Colombia, Nora P. Vasquez, MD grew up in Fontana, California, and it was her father’s medical problems and the lack of cohesive and accessible medical care that inspired her to pursue medicine as a career.
Dr. Vasquez attended the University of California in Riverside (UCR) where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biochemistry. Her professors at UCR encouraged her to participate in the study development of monoclonal antibodies, including some of the early research in osteoporosis treatment that is still relevant today. She earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago College of Medicine, and she is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Although she loved her time in Chicago, Dr. Vasquez returned to Southern California to complete her internship and residency at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica in the Family Medicine Residency Program, where she served as Co-Chief Resident in her final year. Immediately after graduating, Dr. Vasquez joined the Santa Monica Family Physicians, and she has been here ever since.
Growing up in an adventurous family, they have camped all over the Western United States, and they also traveled back to Colombia often. She developed a life-long love of nature and travel as a result of these experiences.
Dr. Vasquez loves the Los Angeles Dodgers, and fondly remembers listening to Vince Scully call the games on the radio. Cooking, skiing, hiking, and travel are Dr. Vasquez’s other great passions. She loves to hit the slopes in Beaver Creek, Colorado and Mammoth, California whenever she can. And she is also happy to visit our local mountains when there is snow. She enjoys hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains and says that the Dolomites in northern Italy is her all-time favorite destination.
Last Christmas, Dr. Vasquez and her husband brought three generations of Vasquez women together so they could teach their two daughters how to make her mother’s special Colombian Empanadas. She says her greatest passion of all is to enrich her daughters’ lives, opening their worlds, and allowing them to experience everything they can and want to do. “I practice medicine with a passion because I love it”, she says. “And because I also want my girls to be proud and empowered women.”
Dr. Vasquez is always straight to the point explaining what is going on or what could be the problem. She fully explores the situation before referring me to a specialist. I never feel passed on or ignored. I trust her opinion totally.

Dr. Vasquez has been my doctor for the last 17 years. I regard her as one of the best doctors I have ever had in my entire life and I am 58 years old.
Providence PatientProvider thorough but very rushed. Going between computer, assistant, and my past and current information. Couple of things were confusing or unclear as to whether a condition or procedure was needed I do believe I got the info I needed in the end. I do have a plan of action. Appreciate written info and referrals.
Providence PatientLove my provider, office staff needs training. Screwed up prescriptions, no responses to my chart emails.
Providence PatientShe is very patience with my mom.
Providence PatientDr. Vasquez is definitely informed of my medical history. She looks at the entire chart. But she rushes too much.
Providence PatientHelpful tips and suggestions by dr
Providence PatientOverall good experience and provider anticipated my questions about health and had helpful suggestions. Not so much a negative experience during the visit, but scheduling the visit for routine care required setting an appointment several months into the future from what I expected.
Providence PatientExperiences have always been positive.
Providence PatientI believe that she's very carrying and does a great job.
