About Greta Jacobsen, MD

Dr. Greta Jacobsen grew up on the Westside, attending Santa Monica High School and later completing her undergraduate degree at Harvard. As a literature major studying the American transcendentalists, she was moved by poet Walt Whitman’s compassion for individual soldiers in his tireless work as a hospital volunteer during the Civil War. An emergency surgery during her junior year led to her own hospitalization, and she recalls how vulnerable she felt as a patient while critical events unfolded. This ignited her desire to pursue medical knowledge and also served as a powerful lesson on
valuing the patient experience.

An MSc in the History of Medicine at the University of Oxford con rmed her decision to attend medical school, as well as cultivated a love for the UK. She
completed her medical degree at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and worked nearly two years as a physician in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). She completed her U.S. residency in Family Medicine at Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, California, where her clinic and hospital served a diverse patient population across the Central Valley.

Dr. Jacobsen values close communication with her patients, seeking to get to know them as individuals and helping them to navigate a complex healthcare system. In her spare time, she loves getting out on the soccer feld or the tennis court for a competitive match, singing (especially with her four sisters), exploring cities on foot and, most of all, spending time with her family.
