About Devora Cohen, MD 

Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Devora S. Cohen, MD’s medical training began at the tender age of 10. This is the year her father started medical school. He brought her to classes with him, taught her how to dissect and suture, and she even became his study partner, using flashcards to help him prepare for exams.  

Today, Dr. Cohen has over 30 years experience in family medicine, and she continues to have a deep love for practicing medicine. Listening to her patients tell their personal stories, helping them solve their problems, and improving their health and well-being is what drives her.  

Dr. Cohen received her medical degree from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and completed both her internship and residency at the University of California Medical Center in Irvine, California. She was formerly an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA and has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine.  

Dr. Cohen has a special interest in dermatology and gynecology, and her patients appreciate her empathy, enthusiasm, and practical wisdom. It is her belief that medical care should be compassionate, science and evidence-based, and comprehensive. She enjoys collaborating with her medical team and patients, all working together to create a safe “Medical Home.” 

Dr. Cohen realizes through the experience of her patients, friends, and family members how important it is to have an advocate in the health care system. It is her goal to explore ways to improve the health care system so that it can become more patient-centered, and she is excited that Providence Saint John’s Santa Monica is her partner in that goal.  

When not working with her patients, Dr. Cohen loves outdoor activities with her husband and two children, and she enjoys hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains with friends. Her hobbies include knitting, cooking, and visiting art museums. She especially enjoys international travel so she can visit with her cousins and friends located all over the world.  

I trust the care provider completely and really appreciate the time and appropriate advice, support and time always provided me. My health is greatly improved and well managed because of her care and attention.
