About Devora Cohen, MD
Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Devora S. Cohen, MD’s medical training began at the tender age of 10. This is the year her father started medical school. He brought her to classes with him, taught her how to dissect and suture, and she even became his study partner, using flashcards to help him prepare for exams.
Today, Dr. Cohen has over 30 years experience in family medicine, and she continues to have a deep love for practicing medicine. Listening to her patients tell their personal stories, helping them solve their problems, and improving their health and well-being is what drives her.
Dr. Cohen received her medical degree from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and completed both her internship and residency at the University of California Medical Center in Irvine, California. She was formerly an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA and has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Dr. Cohen has a special interest in dermatology and gynecology, and her patients appreciate her empathy, enthusiasm, and practical wisdom. It is her belief that medical care should be compassionate, science and evidence-based, and comprehensive. She enjoys collaborating with her medical team and patients, all working together to create a safe “Medical Home.”
Dr. Cohen realizes through the experience of her patients, friends, and family members how important it is to have an advocate in the health care system. It is her goal to explore ways to improve the health care system so that it can become more patient-centered, and she is excited that Providence Saint John’s Santa Monica is her partner in that goal.
When not working with her patients, Dr. Cohen loves outdoor activities with her husband and two children, and she enjoys hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains with friends. Her hobbies include knitting, cooking, and visiting art museums. She especially enjoys international travel so she can visit with her cousins and friends located all over the world.

Dr. Cohen is an exceptional doctor. I had two blood test results that revealed my bad cholesterol and sugar were slightly elevated and my kidney function had dropped. We discussed ways that I could reduce it without taking a medication with diet, exercise and proper rest.and for kidneys' keeping hydrated. I also took the vitamins I was taking and she reviewed each one to make sure they were ok and found two had the same nutrients so I was able to eliminate one. Dr. Cohen was very reassuring and positive that we could correct all three of my issues. She is very encouraging! Also super knowledgeable! I have referred several of my friends to her because she is such an excellent doctor. She really cares about her patients. Now that I am older, I feel very confident and secure having a doctor like her, but many of my friends don't have this confidence in their senior years I feel very blessed to have Dr. Cohen. She is a brilliant doctor and a very kind person, but is also very to the point, and no nonsense about what a patient needs to do to help themselves I highly recommend her

Takes 3 months to schedule an annual wellness appointment. It used to be 1 month. No reminders from office about time to schedule Also can't get appointments for sickness. Using various urgent cares Not ideal. Discussed which urgent care would have my records for better intervention and medical care when sick. Tried the urgent care at wilshire and 9th per her recommendation. They were excellent. Dr cohen is terrific and responsive through my chart. So hoping with a better plan for sickness management I will feel I have my medical needs addressed in the best way possible

Really loved Dr. Cohen! So warm, caring and thorough! I finally felt I had a doctor who would help me navigate through my medical issue and I wouldn't have to do it alone despite the fact that I AM a doctor and already seen other doctors for the issue. I'm truly grateful! She really care and is very knowledgeable! She also knows where to refer to get the right team on board to help!

Dr. Cohen is the best. Her pleasant disposition is very warm and puts you at ease. She always explains things in a manner that I understand and always asks if her explanation was understood. Very Satisfied and felt comfortable with my first visit to Dr. Cohen She asked me questions about my health history including my parents and siblings including children. I was so happy that she check on all my my prescribed medz and checked on my Pharmacy. .I was impressed the way she took me as her new patient and I guess I will be fully satisfied to be under her care ..She mentioned though sometimes she won't be around during my visit however there will be other two providers that can helped me on my health concerns.If I heard it right. . That's fine with me.

Dr. Cohen is wonderful. Very knowledgeable. Always prepared, on time and patient as I never feel rushed. She always waits to make sure I understand everything and my questions are all answered. She does research for me on specific questions to confirm past medication and test results. And followed up via email after test results and such. Her staff is very nice. If they do not have the answer they refer to the Dr. and nurses are great. Professional and prepared whenever I need an injection or blood work. Also, during Covid, that are exceptionally safe and organized. It is the one Doctor I feel very safe in visiting, because they follow through on all of the procedures needed. It makes me want to keep my follow up appointments during this difficult time.
