About Angela Nishio, MD

Angela Y. Nishio, MD, first entered the Maternity Ward of Saint John’s Health Center as a screaming nine-pound infant. Little did her parents know that she would end up back here to bring babies into the world for other parents. A love of science, combined with the desire to serve her community, as her parents had in their respective fields, brought her to the world of medicine.

Dr. Nishio feels immense gratitude toward her patients, who allow her to participate in one of life’s most intimate moments: childbirth. She is awed by the strength and resilience of the pregnant woman and decided to devote her professional life to helping babies arrive safely.

Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Nishio earned her medical degree from the Finch University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois, and completed her internship and residency at the LAC & USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Nishio came to Saint John’s right after completing her residency. She recently took on a more prominent role when she became the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Chair in 2016. She is currently the Medical Director of Women’s Health Services at Saint John’s Health Center. While she also enjoys fulfilling her patients’ gynecologic needs, ranging from Pap tests to pelvic surgery, maternity care remains her passion.

Dr Nishio is amazing. She listens, she understands and she knows the best things to prescribe for whatever issues you have. When I mentioned some issues I had recently she did an additional test to ensure everything was ok and that there were no hidden issues causing problems.

Patient. Honest. Straight forward. Listens and responds. Didn't try to over treat me. Talked me through different medication options. Gave me her preference for my follow up care. I trusted her amd followed her lead.
