About Ted Hak, MD
Ted J. Hak, MD, has had a long relationship with the city of Santa Monica. He has lived and practiced medicine in Santa Monica since 1980. 
After serving as the Medical Director of an urgent care center for two years, Dr. Hak co-founded Santa Monica Family Physicians in 1985. The group maintained offices in Santa Monica for over 25 years before becoming affiliated with the UCLA Medical Center. Many members of the practice reunited again as Santa Monica Family Physicians in 2017, when they joined the Providence Medical Institute and the Saint John’s Health Center. Dr. Hak’s focus is on wellness for both his patients and himself, and he has not missed a day of work due to illness for over two decades. 
Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Hak MD completed his medical training at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He interned at Providence St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica and completed his residency at UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica.
When not working with his patients, Dr. Hak maintains an active lifestyle enjoying both water skiing and snow skiing, as well as golfing. His wife is on a ski patrol in Big Bear, so they spend many winter weekends in the mountains. He always looks forward to spending time with his family members, who all reside in the Santa Monica area.

In his spare time, Dr. Hak enjoys snow skiing, water skiing and golf. His wife is on the ski patrol in Big Bear, so many winter weekends are spent in the mountains. He also looks forward to spending time with his family members, who all reside in the Santa Monica area.

My experiences with Dr. Hak, his staff, and the clinic which I visit have been excellent without exception. P.A.s, other assistants, office personnel, and clerical staff are courteous, genuinely concerned with providing ease of access and making the patient comfortable. Dr. Hak is highly knowledgeable and obviously skilled in interacting with people with kindness and respect. He explains factual information in detail but clearly and provides many opportunities for the patient to ask questions and add comments. This is only my 2nd visit to Dr. Hack, and I brought my 15yr old son this time, for his 1st visit with Dr. Hack. I've only been twice, and both times were for annual wellness visits, one year apart. During the year in between the 2 visits, I never had a need to call this provider for anything. Both times seeing Dr. Hack were very informative and thorough. I was able to ask a lot of questions, and he very patiently and thoughtfully answered all of my questions. I'm very happy with my care from Dr. Hack!

I received immediate care for a recent experience with abdominal pain. Dr. Hak was clearly concerned with gaining pertinent information regarding my condition and history. Since I only See Dr Hac once a year it's pretty A to B.Everything goes like clockwork. I make the appointment, come down, get the blood test, talk with the doctor who gives me some simple tests, ( vision, memory etc) checks me out with a stethoscope,, asks me some questions about my state f health, we chat, and then he leaves, I get teh blood test and I'm gone...sweet and simple.. No major issues going on so our talk is always casual and to the point. I've been seeing Dr Hac for longer than I can remember(, (lucky I'm still remembering at all hah!).

Well . . . I had hip pain. Dr. Suggested lumbar x-ray for arthritis, which (x-ray) turned out normal. I still think the problem is hip joint, but I will bring that up at next appointment in six weeks. I do think it is arthritis, but hip, not lumbar. In any case, Dr.'s arthritis advice in the meanwhile was okay. So nothing to "complain" about. I trust he'll follow up next appt.
