About Jordan Kawano, MD

Jordan C. Kawano, MD, is a non-invasive cardiologist certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine and by the Board of Nuclear Cardiology in nuclear cardiology echocardiography.

He was born and raised in Culver City, California, to parents who are both pharmacists, and they inspired him to pursue a life in medicine and help others. He grew up as part of the West Los Angeles Japanese community, participating in the basketball league and becoming an Eagle Scout earning the coveted bronze, silver, and gold palms.

Dr. Kawano attended Pomona College, earning his Bachelor of Arts in economics before earning his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School. He was elected to the Illinois chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha and inducted into the Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society.

He completed his internship and residency at Yale University-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut before completing his general cardiology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He joined the Pacific Heart Institute in 2018.

His special interests include patient care, patient education, guideline-driven evidence-based medicine, and noninvasive cardiac imaging.

Dr. Kawano’s hero growing up was John Wooden, and he makes every effort to follow Wooden’s Seven Point Creed. His parents raised him to “Be more interested in finding the best way, not in having your way.” He aims to practice medicine with this in mind. Dr. Kawano believes that the most effective way to practice is by sitting with a patient, listening carefully to their questions, and providing complete and accurate answers while formulating a plan together. This approach offers the best path for improving a patient’s health while simultaneously limiting confusion and reducing their future risk.

When not working with his patients, he closely follows the Chelsea Football club, collects vinyl records, and spends time with his family.

Specialty cardiology care – so may not be relevant to friends and relatives. Dr. Kawano is caring, compassionate, and very good at listening and explaining test results.
