About Orrin Troum, MD  

Double certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, Orrin M. Troum, MD, is a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Voluntary Faculty Member of the Division of Rheumatology at the Keck School of Medicine-University of Southern California.   

Dr. Troum completed his medical training at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. He completed his internship and residency at the LAC & USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, and is a Fellow American College of Rheumatology – ACR.  

Dr. Troum pioneered the Extremity MRI in the United States for evaluation, clinical decision process, and outcome for inflammatory arthritis patients. Also, he is a recent Past President of The International Society for Musculoskeletal Imaging in Rheumatology (ISEMIR).   

Dr. Troum has served on the Arthritis Foundation by being a member of their Board of Directors, Medical & Scientific Committee, and most recently the Advocacy and Public Policy Committee. He joined The Doctors of St. John’s Medical Group in 2014 and is a member of their Board of Directors.  

Dr. Troum has published several articles, including one on the short-term changes on MRI predicting long-term changes on radiography in rheumatoid arthritis, which is an analysis by an OMERACT Task Force of pooled data from four randomized controlled trials. Another article examines the validity of the rheumatoid arthritis magnetic resonance imaging score according to the OMERACT filter-a systematic literature review.
