About Kamyar Shahedi, MD
Dr. Shahedi’s reputation for his knowledge and expertise makes him a top sought board-certified Gastroenterologist in Santa Monica and the West Side. As a native of Los Angeles, Dr. Shahedi completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA at the top of his class with Summa Cum Laude before attending the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, where he again graduated top of his class.
He returned to Los Angeles, where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. He also served as an Attending Associate Instructor of Medicine there before completing his fellowship specialty training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the distinguished University of California, Davis Health System. Dr. Shahedi completed advanced training in advanced Therapeutic Endoscopic Interventions and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography and pancreaticobiliary diseases with honors.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Shahedi treats all Gastroenterology disorders of the stomach, small intestine, liver, esophagus, gallbladder, and pancreas, including dyspepsia, GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. He also performs various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including Colonoscopy, upper endoscopies (EGD), capsule endoscopies, and breath tests. Dr. Shahedi is among a select few Gastroenterologists with expertise in pancreaticobiliary diseases who have advanced training in and perform advanced endoscopic therapeutic interventions and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
Besides his medical practice, Dr. Shahedi is actively involved in research and has presented his findings at various national conferences. He has authored numerous publications in distinguished peer-reviewed medical journals and online guidelines that are referred to by other physicians and patients. He is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterological Association.
Dr. Shahedi enjoys traveling with his wife, playing music and piano, photography, and giving back to the community through volunteer work and serves as a volunteer staff where he instructs medical students and residents.
